Brummitt Energy Associates

What began as a simple request from High Tech High to help complete energy documentation for their new High School in Chula Vista (HTHCV) grew into a strong relationship that continues today and now includes their new campus in North County.

The Brummitt-HTH collaboration at HTHCV resulted in a project that earned all 10 points for EAc1–Optimize Energy Performance and all 3 points for EAc2–Renewable Energy, along with Exemplary Performance credits for both, helping this LEED for Schools project to achieve its targeted LEED Gold Rating.  The LEED points documented by Brummitt comprised more than 30% of the total points earned on this project.  HTHCV was the first CHPS Verified school building in California, a 2011 AIA COTE award winner, and has also been featured in Time Magazine!

“HTH Chula Vista incorporates passively-ventilated public spaces which take advantage of cross ventilation and passive-stack ventilation. The design team was greatly informed by Brummitt Energy Associates’ performance analyses. They presented options and reports which justified decisions and ultimately led the project to earn the first Collaborative for High Performance Schools Verification in California, LEED Gold Certification, an EPA Energy Star, and enough SDG&E Savings By Design incentives to pay for administrating all of them.”
